The Ninth | 2018

Due to the level of knowledge and the different definitions of the term planet, the number of planets has changed several times in the course of history. In 2006, astronomers from all over the world agreed by a narrow majority that Pluto would no longer be recognised as a planet. Pluto as well as all bodies discovered behind it would be classified as trans-Neptunian objects (TNOs). Thus, there are currently eight bodies that are reconsidered planets in our solar system: the four rock planets, Mercury, venus, Earth and Mars, and the four big gas planets Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune. This series is called “The Ninth” and scrutinises the transformation of the planet Earth in an era of the Anthropocene. It discovers a landscape of my own fictious ninth planet.
